Alloderm is a sterile human connective tissue matrix that contains no blood and no cells. Therefore, there is no risk of rejection or potential disease transmission. This tissue matrix has been in use in medicine and dentistry for over 25 years with no cases reported of disease transmission. Alloderm has been shown in several studies to be equivalent to palatal connective tissue for treating gum recession.  This procedure is ideal for treating multiple areas of recession at one time and palatal tissue is not involved. Not everybody qualifies for this technique and treatment.
